WPSHC expands CT Scan availability
In February, WPSHC was pleased to expand the availability of Computed Tomography Appointments for outpatients in West Parry Sound.
PARRY SOUND, 14 February 2026 – This past Valentine’s Day, WPSHC expanded its outpatient diagnostic imaging services to include weekend appointments for computed tomography (CT) scans. The expansion aligns with the hospital’s strategic priorities and is expected to improve access to care while reducing wait times for patients.
Beginning 14 February, WPSHC started offering CT scan appointments on weekends between 01:00 P.M and 06:00 P.M. During the initial rollout, five patients will be scheduled per day. As the service expands, delivery may be adjusted to best meet the needs of patients and staff.
The increased appointment availability will reduce barriers to care for patients who work during the week, face travel challenges, or have caregiving responsibilities. Weekend access also eases pressure on weekday schedules, supporting timely diagnostic services.
Timely diagnostic imaging plays a critical role in improving health outcomes. Earlier identification of medical conditions allows for faster treatment and follow-up care, while reducing the need for urgent imaging and limiting disease progression. Studies show that timely imaging can also improve patient experience and continuity of care.
